Leek - Musselburgh

Leek Seed - Musselburgh. This popular variety is a heavy cropper with a thick, short lily white stem. Musselburgh are known for their hardiness and can be harvested in Winter anywhere in the UK.

 

Sow March-April 1cm deep thinly in well prepared fertile soil in full or partial sun. Can be slow to germinate between 14 - 21 days. Thin when large enough to handle. Can be transplanted when 15cm tall to final position, leaving at least 25cm between plants. Harvest October- January at whatever size you prefer, usually the smaller the plant the sweeter the tase. Can hold well throughout winter in the ground to continue growing.
